The Crusty Dub Vespa sidecar is a hand-built, 12V reggae rig engineered to bring heavyweight bass culture to the streets of Brisbane (Meanjin). Part vintage scooter restoration, part live sound system—fully self-powered and integrated into a classic Vespa sidecar tub.
Built from the Crusty Dub analogue studio in New Farm, the rig runs a traditional 3‑way configuration. Low end hits hard and fast through the legendary SWR Big Ben 1×18 bass cabinet, while a custom B&C coaxial mid/top enclosure delivers crystal-clear vocals and sparkling highs.
The signal chain is driven by a bespoke Goliath preamp with 3‑way crossover and heavy EQ—running alongside a hybrid echo unit and a custom-built analogue dub siren for essential sound system effects. It's not pure analogue, but the soul is.
On the deck: a turntable spinning strictly Jamaican roots and global riddims, straight from vinyl to the streets. Heavy, portable, and ready to roll.
Crusty Dub. Roots reggae on the move.
